Peer Mediators
Peer Mediators
Peer Mediation is a programme that has been set up at Nascot Wood Infants and Nursery School to support “Peers” in resolving conflict within the school playground. After showing an interest in becoming a Peer Mediator, Year 2 children are chosen by class teachers and then trained by Mrs Brooks and Mrs Coalwood.
Peer Mediators have an established set of agreed ground rules and are trained to conduct mediation between pupils that voluntarily agreed to resolve the problem collaboratively. The mediators enable the participants to identify the issues by talking about the situation from their own viewpoint, discussing their feelings and preferred outcome. Once participants have had the opportunity to share their view, they work together to identify an agreed solution.
