Welcome to the parent section of our school website. The pages within the Parent menu provide you with lots of the information that you need to know as a parent of a child at Nascot Wood Infants and Nursery School, including the curriculum, uniform, school meals, clubs and parental involvement.
The School Day
Nursery (Gold Class)
We have two nursery sessions each day:
Morning Nursery runs from 8:45am until 11:45am.
Afternoon Nursery runs from 12:30pm until 3:30pm.
Children attending Nursery should be dropped off and collected at the bottom of the ramp outside the classroom in the main playground. Nursery children will have the option of a fruit/vegetable snack and a carton of milk during their session.
Reception and Key Stage 1
The school day for Reception and Key Stage 1 starts at 8:55am. Children should wait by their class entrance on the playground until a member of staff from each class opens the door.
All children have a fruit/vegetable snack provided during the morning and in Year 1 and 2 have morning break from 10:30-10:45am.
Lunchtime is from 12:05-1:05pm. All children from Reception to Year 2 are entitled to a Universal Free School Meal provided by Herts Catering. More details can be found on the School Meals page including the current menu.
If your child is being collected from school by someone who is not on your child’s permission list, please let the class teacher or LSA know in the morning. This information must come from the parent of the child, not the person collecting them. If there is a late change to collection, please let the Office know as soon as possible.
Messages for teachers can be given to the member of staff on the class entrance at drop-off/collection, however if you wish to see the class teacher an appointment will need to be made.
Attendance and Punctuality
At Nascot Wood Infant and Nursery School, we expect parents and carers to ensure that children attend school regularly and arrive on time. Children arriving after the doors have closed will need to be accompanied by a parent/carer to the School Office to sign in the late book.
We also ask that parents and carers contact the school to inform us of reasons for lateness or absence, by calling the absence line on 01923 239653 (option 1) or by emailing email@example.com by 9:00am. When leaving a message, please give the child’s name and class, together with a clear explanation of the reason for their absence. Please remember that, as advised by the Health Protection Agency, children must be absent for 48 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea to help prevent the spread of infection.
If your child will be late in to school late due to a medical appointment, please inform the office in advance or by 9:00am on the day of absence so that a lunch can be provided where required.
