Curriculum Overview:

EYFS

KS1

Long Term Planning:

In the EYFS, Nascot Wood Infants uses the Government non-statutory guidance document, Development Matters, to support our planning of an effective early years curriculum, building on the strengths and meeting the needs of the children we work with. Please click here to see the Development Matters document. Learning is contextualised in key themes, often based on the children’s interests, first hand experiences plus core books.

Medium Term Planning:

Progression Documents:

At Nascot Wood Infants, we have devised progression documents which map key skills, concepts and vocabulary across the whole school. In the EYFS, the progression documents link to outcomes in Physical Development, Understanding of the World and Express Arts and Design Areas of Learning.

Long Term Planning:

Progression Documents:

At Nascot Wood Infants, we have devised progression documents which map key skills, concepts and vocabulary across the whole school. In Key Stage 1, the progression documents relate to Science, Computing plus non-core subjects within the National Curriculum.

At Nascot Wood Infant and Nursery School we use the HfL Essential Maths and English Planning Tools which outline the sequence of teaching for each area within the Maths and English Curriculum. This also covers the requirements of National Curriculum.

Enrichment Activities and Focus Weeks

Each term we organise a curriculum focus week plus a range of visitors, workshops and off-site visits. These provide further enrichment opportunities for children’s learning. Children come off their usual timetable and their learning is instead focused on a particular theme or subject area. They are able to explore concepts and deepen their understanding through a range of high quality first hand experiences, including workshops organised by visitors. Where possible focus weeks also include a Family Learning Morning, where parents and other family members are invited to come in and work alongside the children on joint projects. Themes for previous focus weeks have included Outdoor Learning, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), Creative Arts and Building Learning Power.
* Please note that due to necessary control measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, our enrichment offer has been curtailed.
